Horse trailers
The flagship line, and the reason for the hybrid construction. Wood flooring keeps road heat out of the stall and the frame absorbs what a rough road hands the horse. Bumper pull and gooseneck.

Hybrid construction: steel strength, aluminum skin
Trails West frames are steel, encased in aluminum. That combination is the whole argument for the brand: the steel carries the load and survives years of hard use, while the aluminum skin keeps the trailer from rusting out and keeps maintenance down to soap and water.
Floors are 2×10″ douglas fir, spaced deliberately so the boards breathe and moisture cannot get trapped underneath. Fir also stands up to barnyard chemistry better than the alternatives, and it does not transfer road heat into the stall the way a metal floor does.
Exteriors get a full automotive primer under a high-gloss finish, on electro-galvanized steel or aluminum. It is the reason a ten-year-old Trails West still looks like something you would want to pull up to a show in.
Snowmobile trailers, built for wet and cold
Trails West added snowmobile trailers in 2009 and solved the problem everyone else lived with: melt water. The floors are custom-arched so runoff drains instead of pooling and refreezing, and Trails West was first to duct a 40,000 BTU furnace through the floor specifically to accelerate melting off the machines.
Walls and roof are insulated to hold heat in. The gooseneck model has the room for side-by-sides and ATVs as well as sleds, so it does not sit idle for eight months of the year.

Common Trails West questions
Because the two metals are good at different jobs. Steel carries the load and takes years of towing without fatiguing; aluminum does not rust. Encasing the steel frame in aluminum gets the strength of one and the maintenance-free exterior of the other, which is why Trails West trailers stay serviceable so long.
Two reasons, both about the horse. Wood does not transfer road heat up into the stall the way metal does, and the 2×10″ douglas fir boards are spaced so the floor breathes rather than trapping moisture. Fir also holds up to barnyard chemicals better than the alternatives.
Yes — it is a common request and it drives which model you want. Longer hauls generally favour a gooseneck for stability; if you are staying local and want to stay under the commercial threshold, we will point you at the bumper pull models that do it. Tell us how you tow and we will narrow it down.
